HERE ARE A FEW OF OUR FAVORITES
The Stephen Talkhouse - A Hampton's music institution which has been in existence longer than anyone can really remember. Housed in a funky, old school Cape Cod structure The Talkhouse is as unique as they come. In Summertime the place rocks 7 days a week and goes all night long. Nights usually start with an early, sit down show (Richie Havens, Dave Mason, etc. etc.) and then slowly evolve into an all night free for all with more danceable live bands. Partly due to the fact that they live in the neighborhood (and also that all musicians love to play at The Talkhouse) several world renown musicians have been known to drop in and play a set.
Among them: Sting, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Jimmy Buffet, Dan Akroyd and more.
RESTAURANTS & BARS
The Palm - This is a classic American steak house well known for prime aged steaks, jumbo Nova Scotia lobsters, premium fish and heritage Italien entrees. The restaurant is housed in the famous 300 year old Hunting Inn which is located on East Hampton's famous Main Street. The ambience of the place is high energy with enthusiastic conversation taking place in all corners.
Notable regulars are - Calvin Klein, Billy Joel and Robert De Niro.
The Surf Lodge - Although this place has perfectly delicious food (laid back but elegant) it's really known for its very special outdoor cocktail lounge. Located perfectly on Fort Pond the sunsets here are as good as they get. The ambience is laid back, however, with a definite flair - flip flops, surfboards, lakefront bonfires, unique cocktails, cold beer and plenty of chill raggae. Live music with the sun setting behind makes for a simply spectacular evening!!!
The Dock - If you're looking for authentic local seafood in a truly local spot The Dock is as real as it gets. The food also happens to absolutely fantastic complete with all the touches not normally found in seafood joints such as incredible organic coffee and sumptuous home made desserts. In Montauk, the Dock is truly the real deal.
Sunset Beach - Located on a remote stretch of beach in Shelter Island this Bar/Restaurant has now been considered one of the hottest spots in The Hamptons for several years. Not only is the food amazing but the peopel watching second to none. this could also be said of the water and sunset views from it's second and third level decks. Late nights rock here with a serious international scene and killer DJ's spinning all night.
Cyril's - This place packs them in every Friday afternoon/evening. It's the place everyone gets together and compares notes before embarking on the weekends fun and various activities. The food is quite good and is carribean in style. The drinks, however, and the pople are the real attractions here. Every type of tropical concotion imagineable is served and they pack quite a punch (not your normal fruity drinks to be sure). The owner is a classic local character of several decades. He's older and quite friendly. If you have an opportunity to sit down with him and enjoy a rum punch you'll sort of get the feeling you're hanging with an ex pirate...or something along those lines.
Cyril's does not have a web site but is located on Highway 27 on the Napegue stretch. 631-267-7993
Long Island is loaded with incredibly picturesque vineyards. From the North to South forks the culinary and wine tasting opportunities are endless. Our two favorites are located on the South fork in the heart of The Hamptons:
At either Vineyard you're sure to enjoy a terrific wine tasting and culinary experience.
